Milton's Story
Milton was born in Hastings, he had his first exposure to mod subculture via Quadrophenia and the mod revival as a young teenager.
When did it all begin for you?
Quadrophenia and the mod revival was very big in my secondary school and it really spoke to me and my friends.
What was the appeal?
I really liked the look of the groups and the Richard Barnes mods book was full of photos of my home town, which I found fascinating.
Where would you go in a time machine?
1963 The Flamingo all nighter to watch Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames in their prime.
What small detail tells you that somebody has good taste?
How their clothes fit, the cut and length of the jacket and where the trousers break .
Which possession tells us the most about you?
My Batik madras jacket, it was a real holy grail find.
Who would you want at a dinner party?
Paul Newman and his wife Joanne Woodward.
What is something you would change?
The cost of living in London.
How do we stop this ever dying out?
Support the younger generation who have started putting on club nights.
What is a moment you’d rather forget?
Quite recently we didn't do a 'what are you wearing' text and four of us turned up wearing Madras shirts.
